California Climate Action Registry

The California Climate Action Registry (Registry) was established by California statute as a non-profit voluntary registry for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The purpose of the Registry is to help companies and organizations with operations in the state to establish GHG emissions baselines against which any future GHG emission reduction requirements may be applied.

In response to the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) Water Action Plan, Park Water Company has joined the Registry. The CPUC Plan identifies policy objectives that guide them in regulating investor-owned water utilities. Just as the CPUC has done on the energy side, it plans to identify actions that water utilities can take to reduce GHG emissions and has encouraged California’s largest water utilities to join the Registry.

In September 2006, Park was the first investor-owned water utility to participate in this program. As a member, Park will annually track, report, and certify its greenhouse gas emissions.
