Company Overview

Park Water Company (Park) is a Class A, investor-owned, public water utility operating under the regulatory oversight of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), subject to the CPUC's ratemaking structure and guidelines. Park's Central Basin Division is comprised of three separate service areas: Compton/Willowbrook (Compton West), Lynwood/Rancho Dominguez (Compton East), and Bellflower/Norwalk. Park's primary activities are for the collection, storage, distribution and sale of domestic water. Park serves an estimated 132,600 people through about 27,500 accounts. While the service areas are essentially built-out, Park projects an average annual water demand increase of 0.4-percent.

Park's Central Basin Division service area is primarily residential (92%), with the balance comprised of commercial/industrial/institutional (7%) and public sector/recycled water accounts (1%). The water demand for residential and commercial customers is approximately 89-percent of total demand.

Park's commercial sector includes multi-family residences and retail businesses. The public authority sector includes local government, schools, hospitals, parks and governmental businesses such as the US Post Office. Park's recycled accounts include plant nurseries, Caltrans, five parks, a golf course, schools, and city irrigation areas.

Park obtains its water supply from three sources: imported water, groundwater and recycled water. Approximately 90 percent of Park's potable water supply is imported water purchased from the Central Basin Municipal Water District (CBMWD), a member agency of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
